Volunteering
Seeking
Board Members? Yes
Volunteer
Needs: We actively seek volunteer cabin leaders to stay with
students for 2-4 nights at our Grizzly Creek Ranch Campus. We also work with volunteers for routine
administrative work at our Reno headquarters.
Finally, we offer "Communities Unleashed" programs quarterly
in which community members help with a service-learning project; volunteers
help us to put those events on.
Group
Volunteering Available?
Yes
Comment: We
run retreats, team-building activities, and a variety of other programs at our
1,500 acre Grizzly Creek Ranch Campus outside Portola CA. Group volunteers can help through a 'weekend
warrior' program to get trained on our programs to offer them to students.
Accepted
Age Groups: Children (grades 1-8), Youth (grades 9-12), Young
Professionals (22-39), Seniors (age 65+)
Comment: We
work with a wide-range of volunteers in the above-described activities.
Skills-Based
Opportunities?
Yes
Comment: We
are always on the look-out for community members who have specific skill-sets
around marketing, fundraising, general community outreach, and accounting. We like to use these skills-specific
volunteers to help support and drive projects that focus on the above.
Giving
Giving

Comment: We
have had two plans developed in the past year and are following the most recent
that concentrates on an "Awareness-Engagement-Giving" model. More
generally, we have a strong grant contingent but are working on developing
strengthened individual giving
Wish
List? Yes
Comment: The
primary wish-list items we've identified have been a Bus (to be used for
schools for transportation for field trips and to/from our Grizzly Creek Ranch
Campus) and backpacking equipment. We
have extensive capital plans for our Campus facility, portions of which will go
on that Wish List.
Major

Comment: This
is something that we're finishing development of that includes specific giving
levels, thank-you opportunities, media opportunities (as appropriate), donor
follow-up and continued engagement, etc.
