Organization Information

Mission: Restoring a historic landmark, the First Church of Christ, Scientists and adapting it into a first-class community performance arts venue.  Seating capacity for the Lear Theater will be 299, which is sorely needed for the arts community.

Volunteer Needs: We have 7 active Board Committees comprised of Board Members AND Community volunteers:

1. Board Effectiveness & Leadership (Governance)

2. Development (including Capital Campaign)

3. Facilities

4. Finance & Audit (includes Legal & Personnel)

5. Marketing

6. Program

7. Strategic Planning

We also have non-committee volunteer opportunities for those that can assist in the office: data entry, filing, direct mail support and basic clerical.

Comment: Not at this time, but will be more likely once fundraising allows construction to start.

Accepted Age Groups:  Young Professionals (22-39), Seniors (age 65+)

Comment: Once open, our programming will encourage volunteers of ALL ages.

Skills-Based Opportunities? Yes

Comment: During our final facility design phase we have numerous individuals with performance and theatre operation skills assisting us.  We are also fortunate to have numerous arts advocates and business planners assisting in updating our business and strategic plans.

Comment: Our capital campaign plan was prepared with the assistance of a professional campaign consultant.  It is very detailed and designed specifically for the Lear Theater.

Wish List? Yes

Comment: We own a small parking lot adjacent to the Lear Theater. However, once open, we will need additional parking beyond the available street parking.  To assist our operations, we would like to purchase the property adjacent to the Lear Theater and have secured interest from the current owner to sell it to us at a reduced rate.

Major Giving? Yes

Comment: Yes, it's a part of our capital campaign plan.
