Comment: In less than a year we have earned close to 1,800 Facebook fans through our blog and Facebook page.  We are currently working on developing our YouTube Channel and a Twitter Profile.

Volunteering

Seeking Board Members? Yes

Volunteer Needs: Volunteers are needed year round for River, Neighborhood and Open Space Cleanups, tree or flower plantings through our Adopt-A-Park program, Adopt-A-Spot roadside litter pickup, the Litter Index in the summer, Christmas Tree Recycling in the winter, and volunteers to assist with the implementation of Phone Book Recycling and our educational Paper Making Workshops and Waste Warriors programs. 

 

We also welcome community volunteers on our Advancement, Program or Board Development Committees that meet bi-monthly or once-a-quarter.

Group Volunteering Available? Yes

Comment: Both the spring Great Truckee Meadows Community Cleanup and fall Truckee River Cleanup Day engage over 500 volunteers annually.  There are also smaller community-focused cleanup and team building opportunities for families or, business, and civic groups throughout the year.

Accepted Age Groups: Children (grades 1-8), Youth (grades 9-12), Young Professionals (22-39), Seniors (age 65+)

Comment: Children under 16 must volunteer with an adult or guardian.  Youth under 18 must have a signed parental release form.

Comment: There are always opportunities for personal growth at KTMB.

 

Giving

Giving Needs: Operations, Programs, Capital, Endowment, Nearly 90% of every dollar goes to programs.

Development Plan? Yes

Comment: Working with Staff KTMB's Board of Trustees and Advancement Committee identifies goals at the beginning of the year and tracks those goals to completion.

Wish List? Yes

Comment: KTMB has an endowment with the Community Foundation of Western Nevada.  The goal of our endowment is to make KTMB's mission self-sustaining to better focus our efforts on education and active community involvement.

Major Giving? Yes

Comment: KTMB features our $10,000 and above supporters on our sturdy and stylish reusable canvas bags, t-shirts, brochure, website link, newspaper ad and through a submission to the RGJ Winner's Column.
