Volunteer
Needs: A JA volunteer goes into a K-12 classroom and teaches
a fun, hand's on curriculum based on financial literacy, work readiness, and
entrepreneurship. A new volunteer is
trained by JA staff. Elementary JA
classes have 5 sessions, middle school 6 sessions, and high school 7
sessions. Each session is 30-45 minutes
long. The volunteers' schedule is set up
by the volunteer and the classroom teacher.
The classroom teacher is in the room the entire time. The volunteer is there to administer the JA
curriculum and share their personal experiences.
A JA Board of Director meets 10-11 times a year the 2nd
Tuesday of the month at 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. at the JA office. They are positive ambassadors for JA that
shares the passion of youth, financial literacy, and business. Board members are encouraged to bring in
funding and volunteering opportunities.

Comment: Long
term JA wants to reach every student in Northern Nevada. We can only do this with appropriate
funding. A JA program costs around $100
and has materials for 32 students.
Major
Giving? Yes
Comment: Most
major gift programs are based on whole-school sponsorships. A gift provides JA materials for the entire
school. Because of this partnership, the
donor can really take pride and often accompanies JA staff with an all school
assembly to let the students learn more about the donor.
